The Steelers went into Sunday’s home opener without three defensive starters. They left their 31-17 loss to the Seahawks with a couple of more starters who could miss significant time.
Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith and defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk both suffered high ankle sprains in the game. They were in walking boots in the locker room afterward.
The Steelers already were without starting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, strong safety DeShon Elliott and cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
“It’s funny,” defensive lineman Cam Heyward said. “You scratch your head about the bye week coming early in the season, but we might need that bye week pretty soon.”
