AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas dropped one spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings after an uneven performance in a 27-10 win over UTEP on Saturday in Austin.

The Longhorns (2-1) slid to No. 8 in the poll, and voters have always shown that not all victories are created equal. Oregon beat Northwestern 34-14, yet fell out of the top 5, dropping two spots to No. 6.

Texas A&M surged into the top 10 after its heart-pounding 41-40 victory over Notre Dame, climbing six spots to No. 10. The loss sent the Fighting Irish to 0-2 and into a freefall, plummeting 16 spots to No. 24.

Miami rose a spot to No. 4, and Georgia moved into the top five. The Hurricanes spoiled South Florida's hot start to the season, beating the Bulls 49-12 to move up to No. 4, and the Bulldogs outlasted Tennessee 44-41 i
