WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) — As the fall season inches closer, staples like pumpkin spice, changing leaves, and apple picking are returning. Apple growers at Apples and Moore in Watkins Glen said the conditions were just right over the past year for this season's crop.

Many apples are now ripe and ready to be picked, but the process began all the way back last winter. Apples and Moore owner Alec Moore said that between the wet spring and the hot summer, things are looking good. He said the hail storm over the summer caused some aesthetic damage, but the apples are still ready to go.

"Other than that, the crop looks good," Moore said. "The size for the most part is very good all over the orchard, so we're actually quite pleased with how things turned out given the way the growing season
