“ Hacks ” star Hannah Einbinder confirmed on the Emmys red carpet on Sunday that the HBO Max comedy series will conclude with its fifth season.

“I think it will feel different,” Einbinder told E! host Heather McMahan. “We’re going to start [filming] next week, and knowing it’s the last season is really bittersweet. But I think it’s right, you know? I think it’s nice to do something as many times as it should be done. Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry.”

When McMahan repeated the “rip it” quote back to Einbinder, the supporting actress in a comedy Emmy nominee said: “You can quote me on that. I’m going on the record on that.”

The show’s creators, Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs have often said they saw “Hacks” as a five-season show, but HBO M
