WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Three people are being relocated after an apartment fire in West Hartford Sunday, officials said.

At about 5:28 p.m., fire crews arrived to the scene at 144 Oakwood Avenue and saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the building.

West Hartford fire crews declared the situation as a working fire and requested mutual aid coverage for their stations.

Crews found a fire located in a third floor apartment and found no residents inside.

The primary attack knocked down most of the flames and the overhaul efforts put out the rest, according to officials.

Neighboring apartments received minor damage and the fire was placed under control at 6:01 p.m.
