HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - The County of Hawaii invites eligible nonprofits and their partners to apply for the Kilauea Recovery Grant Program.
Officials said that $6 million in funding is available to support revitalization efforts in Lower Puna. Funding is up to $500,000 per proposed project.
The county said that it will prioritize capital improvement and economic revitalization projects that are expected to represent one-third of the awarded funds.
Projects that support recovery and long-term resilience in alignment with the Kilauea Recovery and Resilience Plan will also be eligible for consideration with remaining funds, county officials said.
Applications open Monday, Sept. 15, and are due by Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. Award decisions will be announced in December.
