Sofia Vergara was forced to skip out on the Emmys due to a last-minute medical emergency.

Vergara, 53, in a post on Instagram, said though she "didn't make it to the Emmys," she "made it to the ER" due to the "craziest eye (allergy) right before getting in the car."

The "Modern Family" star also shared pictures of herself with a swollen right eye and also while lying on the hospital bed and rinsing her eye with water.

While Vergara was not nominated during the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, she was scheduled to present the lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie award. That award was eventually presented to "Adolescence" star Stephen Graham by "The Hunting Wives" actresses Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman.

The 2025 Emmy Award ceremony took place Sept. 14 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and delivered a night of glamorous gowns, political statements, joyful and sweet winners, a lot of trophies for Seth Rogen and one very cringey bit from host Nate Bargatze.

Apple TV+'s Hollywood-set black comedy "The Studio" was the runaway favorite, taking home four trophies including best comedy series to bring its overall tally to 13 Emmy wins in 2025, the highest for this year. "The Penguin" trailed closely behind with nine total wins, while Netflix's searing crime drama "Adolescence" won six on the night, including best limited series, and made history with Owen Cooper becoming the youngest actor to win outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie. HBO Max hospital drama "The Pitt" was another favorite, walking away with three trophies Sunday night, including the night's top award for best drama series.

Vergara has been nominated several times for an Emmy for her roles in the sitcom "Modern Family" and the Netflix thriller "Griselda," but is yet to win an award. "Modern Family," meanwhile, holds the record for most Emmy wins as best comedy series, alongside "Frasier," with five trophies, according to the Television Academy. The critically acclaimed ABC sitcom ran for 11 seasons from 2009 and to 2020.
