Phylicia Rashad honoured her late co-star, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

During the prizegiving hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles on Sunday night, the legendary actress took to the stage amid the In Memoriam segment to pay tribute to Warner, who played her son Theodore Huxtable on the sitcom The Cosby Show.

Warner drowned while swimming on vacation in Costa Rica in July. He was 54.

"He was a beloved teenager in an iconic television series with a world-watched role," she began. "And like all our friends and colleagues who transitioned this past year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, remains in our hearts."

Rashad went on to reference a number of other artists and TV personalities who passed away over the past year.

They included Julian McMahon, Teri Garr, Ozzy Osbourne, Loni Anderson, Anne Burrell, George Wendt, Maggie Smith, John Amos, David Lynch, Linda Lavin, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Quincy Jones.

"Tonight, as is tradition at the Emmys, we remember them, not just for their immense talent, but also for the way they've made us believe in something bigger, the best that is within us," the 77-year-old continued. "And even though they may no longer be here with us, we can all smile knowing that their impact will remain, knowing that their lasting impressions will continue to live on through story, knowing that they touched our lives. Whether you grew up watching them or have just now discovered their brilliance, their life remains in the very fabric of our industry."

Lainey Wilson and Vince Gill performed his 1995 song Go Rest High on That Mountain during the segment.
