Forecasters reckon North Staffordshire is in line to be battered by 47mph winds, thunder and hours of rain as a weather warning kicks in. Trentham Estate has warned of 'temporary closures' to swathes of the popular gardens today 'due to high winds'.
It comes as the Met Office yellow weather warning for wind came in at 8pm last night and will run through to 6pm today. That warning covers virtually all over England and Wales and goes from the south coast to Durham.
Today the Met Office is forecasting winds of 47mph for North Staffordshire - including Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and the Moorlands. In terms of rain and the city is set for light rain between noon and 7pm.
