The countdown to the EU's fresh Entry/Exit System (EES) has reached one month, with millions of British tourists being warned that being unprepared could wreck their getaways. Starting October 12, non-EU nationals will be required to provide fingerprints and undergo facial scanning when entering the EU.

Travel specialists are cautioning that the additional screening processes, paired with most people remaining oblivious to the new regulations, could generate "double red tape" at borders, precisely when families embark on the hectic half-term break.
