HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Gov. Ned Lamont (D-Conn.) is set to sign the latest consumer protection bill into law on Monday afternoon at a bill signing ceremony.
Legislators hope the bill will strengthen the state's consumer protection laws. It has many provisions related to junk fees, price gouging, and protection against eavesdropping through electronic devices.
Moving forward, the state will require fee disclosures for consumer goods and services, establish several requirements concerning connected devices, and outline the repair of electronic or appliance products.
The law will also require each municipality to establish and maintain a ".gov" internet top-level domain.
The signing ceremony for this legislation is scheduled to happen at the Ben Franklin Center in Norwalk at noon.
