GRAND FORKS — In the days after the launch of satellites to be controlled by personnel at Grand Forks Air Force Base, U.S. Sen. John Hoeven said he believes the mission will continue to grow in importance for the United States.

The launch occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, according to a release from the Space Development Agency. It’s part of a low-Earth-orbit (LEO) program known as the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, as reported in the past by the Grand Forks Herald.

In July 2024, Hoeven told the Herald, “This is the tip of the spear. This is the stuff that goes up against Russia and China.”
