MASON COUNTY, MI – Sheriff’s deputies identified a Holland man as the victim of a presumed drowning in Tallman Lake.

The victim was identified as Estil Perrigan Jr., 61.

Rescuers responded at 1:07 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, in response to a report of an overturned kayak on the lake near Tallman Lake Road and 20th Street in Mason County’s Sheridan Township.

A state Department of Natural Resources officer spotted the man’s body at 2:47 p.m. in about 7 feet of water.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was presumed to have drowned pending an autopsy.

Fountain Area Fire Department and Life EMS Ambulance assisted sheriff’s deputies and the DNR.
