INDIANAPOLIS — A weekend traffic stop led to the arrest of a second suspect in a deadly 2024 shooting on Indianapolis' south side, IMPD announced Monday, Sept. 15.

Around 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, an IMPD Downtown District officer pulled over a vehicle which police said committed two traffic infractions.

IMPD said a backseat passenger had an active arrest warrant for charges of murder and robbery. That person, an 18-year-old man, was taken into custody, while the other three people in the car were released.

The arrest warrant for the man was for the Oct. 10, 2024, fatal shooting of 26-year-old Jose Hernandez in the 300 block of Park Haven Way, near East Southern Avenue and South East Street . Detectives came to believe Hernandez was killed during a robbery, and identified two suspect
