Two women from Montreal’s deaf community were tragically killed by a train in Portugal while taking photos near railway tracks.

Guylaine Boulanger, 62, and Elise Bénard, 66, were struck on Saturday near Mesao Frio, east of Porto.

Despite the train conductor’s attempt to warn and brake, the impact was reportedly unavoidable.

According to the The Portugal Resident, the two women were traveling with two other friends, who were unharmed.
