FARGO — Chase Gerer imagines that his younger self may not believe he’s having the time of his life behind the wheel.
Gerer, 28, a strategic planning adviser at Sanford Health in Fargo, is a Pro Buggy racer who last month competed in the Polaris World Championships at Crandon (Wis.) International Raceway.
“Could he imagine what I’m doing now?,” Gerer said in reference to his 10-year-old self. “He’d be absolutely, out-of-his-mind thrilled that I made it to the pro level and do what I’m able to do with far fewer resources than a lot of people.”
Pro buggy, as Gerer explains, is a motocross-style dirt track with various jumps in a circuit which is scaled up for purpose-built trucks, buggies and side-by-sides. With a wheel base around 90 inches, drivers can reach speeds of around 90 mph as t
