MADISON, Wis. — A 68-year-old woman was arrested after officers found seven Great Danes confined in a van in what police described as deplorable conditions, leading to multiple canine deaths, according to the Madison Police Department’s city-wide notable calls list.
Officers responded to a welfare check for dogs in distress near midtown shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday and found the woman with seven Great Danes in her van, police said. The dogs were allegedly left in the vehicle since about 10:30 a.m..
Two of the dogs were dead at the scene, while four others were taken to an emergency veterinary clinic.
