Canada’s Camryn Rogers is back in a familiar place: on top of the podium.

The hammer thrower captured her second straight world-championship gold medal on Monday in Tokyo with a national-record toss of 80.51 metres.

Rogers, the 26-year-old from Richmond, B.C., also won the world title two years ago in Budapest.

At the Paris Olympics last summer, she became Canada’s first-ever women’s hammer throw medallist when she claimed gold.

A pair of Chinese women rounded out the podium in Tokyo as Jie Zhao scored silver (76.65 metres) and Jiale Zhang took bronze (76.22).

Rogers’ gold medal is Canada’s second of the meet after Evan Dunfee won the men’s 35-kilometre race walk.
