Rescuers saved 11 stranded dolphins over the weekend on Cape Cod.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare said they got a call around 8 a.m. Saturday saying that six dolphins were swimming in Chipman's Cove in Wellfleet, Massachusetts -- which is known as a stranding hotspot "due to its shallow bays, complex tidal flats and hook-like geography."

IFAW volunteers responded and found 12 dolphins in the area. With low tide rapidly approaching, they mobilized quickly. At low tide around 10:30 a.m., multiple dolphins began stranding at several locations in Wellfleet. Seven of the 12 dolphins became stranded, with some still swimming in water.
