The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe came to the rescue of the local United Way yesterday, donating $9,000 to help defray the cost of trucking 75 tons of donated clothes to Hurricane Katrina victims in Mississippi. The clothing was originally gathered for 3,000 evacuees expected at Camp Ripley, but they went elsewhere.
