Police have launched a fresh search into an elderly prospector who went missing in WA’s Wheatbelt region nine months ago following new information.
Barry Podmore was last seen in Karroun Hill — about 400km north-east of Perth — on December 4 where he was believed to be gold prospecting at the time.
His last known contact was a phone call he made on December 5.
Police on Thursday confirmed they had recommenced an “active search operation” into the missing 73-year-old after receiving fresh information.
“But Mr Podmore’s whereabouts currently remains unknown,” a police spokesperson said.
A ground search of the area between Paynes Find and Southern Cross was launched in May after officers located a “vehicle of interest”.
