Sir Keir Starmer faces new crisis as another senior colleague resigns

The Prime Minister is facing a fresh crisis after another senior colleague resigned. The Mirror reports that Sir Keir Starmer's director of strategy has resigned after messages were leaked in which he allegedly made "lurid and sexually explicit" comments about MP Diane Abbott.

Paul Ovenden reportedly said he was exiting Downing Street over an "inappropriate" conversation he had with colleagues while at Labour's press team back in 2017. It comes after Peter Mandelson was sacked as US ambassador and after deputy PM Angela Rayner quit.

ITV claims internal messages showed Mr Ovenden recount a chat involving a sex toy and multiple sex acts directed at Ms Abbott - which he himself described as “outrageous”.
