BRIDGETON — A city man was arrested early Saturday for allegedly driving while intoxicated and leading officers on a high-speed chase through the city, police said.
Ibn Hunter, 35, was charged with eluding, resisting arrest, obstruction, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and contempt of court. He's being held in the Cumberland County jail.
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle near East Broad Street and South East Avenue for suspicion of DWI at 3:29 a.m. Hunter refused to stop the vehicle and fled, reaching speeds of 70 mph, police said Monday in a news release.
The pursuit stopped at Spruce Street and Pamphylia Avenue when Hunter crashed into a curb, police said. Hunter then ran away but was taken into custody a short time later in the backyard of a home
