Threats to McDowell County Schools were reported on Monday. Two people were taken into custody out of state, according to the school system.

“This morning, McDowell County Schools were made aware of some social media posts that appeared to be threats,” McDowell County Schools said in a release.

Students reported the posts through an app and local law enforcement responded, the school system said. Law enforcement was increased on school campuses Monday.

School system officials were notified by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office that the posts originated in West Virginia, where two individuals were taken into custody.
