Phoenix City Council members touted the success of the city’s rapidly growing bioscience industry as they funded it for another year.

“It’s supporting associations like this that help us further the research of what is needed in order to be proactive and combat some of the diseases we’re facing today,” said Councilmember Laura Pastor during last week’s Economic Development and the Arts Subcommittee meeting.

The subcommittee unanimously voted to approve a $130,000 budget for the Bioscience Healthcare Strategic Initiative.

The initiative launched in 2019, and Vice Mayor Ann O’Brien said the city’s bioscience industry has seen “unprecedented growth” since.
