HIGH POINT, N.C. — A high school football player is accused of punching a referee in High Point on Sept. 12, according to the High Point Police Department.
At around 10 p.m., off-duty police officers were at a high school football game at A.J. Simeon Stadium for a game between T. Wingate Andrews High School and Smith High School.
According to police, a player from Smith High School punched a referee.
The referee was evaluated at the stadium for injuries but did not need further medical attention, police said.
Charges will be filed, according to police, but the specific charges are unclear at this time.
