BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. —

One firefighter is recovering after needing medical attention at a large junkyard fire in Blountsville Sunday.

The Blountsville Fire and Rescue Department said they responded to the large fire on Hackney Road just after 6 p.m.

When fire crews arrived, they found about 25 vehicles on fire and multiple buildings in danger of catching fire.

Other fire agencies responded and assisted with providing about 50,000 gallons of water needed for the incident, the fire department said.

Bulldozers and excavators were used to move unburned vehicles out of the way and create a fire break.

After about seven hours, between 150 and 200 vehicles burned, said Blountsville Fire and Rescue.
