ROCK HILL, S.C. — A murder suspect's request for bond was denied on Monday in a York County Court.
Zachary Elias, 29, is facing two counts of murder for a shooting at a smoke shop in Rock Hill in December 2024 . He appeared in court on Monday, where he was denied bond.
Investigators say Elias entered Budiman's Smokeshop & Art Gallery on Cherry Road in Rock Hill around 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2024 and shot three people, killing employee Celci Johnson, 27, and customer Emad Saadalla, 49. The third victim was injured in the shooting but survived.
Elias drove off from the scene in a truck before crashing at the bridge over the Catawba River. He exited the vehicle and charged at officers, who subdued him with a stun gun. An officer fired a gunshot at Elias during the incident but it did not hit
