WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A 20-year-old D.C. man was sentenced to 27 years in prison for a spree of robberies he committed along the Metropolitan Branch Trail, the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia announced Monday.

In a news release, the USAO said that Jalique Wiseman robbed multiple people six different times between Oct. 2, 2023, and Nov. 23, 2023.

Prosecutors say that each time, he used physical violence or the threat of a gun to take the victims' cell phones or other property. He would then demand that the victims tell him their passcodes so he could transfer money from their financial accounts.

Authorities arrested Wiseman on Nov. 29, 2023. He has been in custody since then.
