TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - There’s a renewed focus on First Amendment rights on social media in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death.

As people took to social media to share their opinions on his death, some were fired by their employers, including professors and teachers.

This termination of employees and suspension of teachers is calling into question what is deemed freedom of speech and expression, and what isn’t.

Florida’s Education Commissioner, along with Governor Ron DeSantis, argue that teachers don’t have unlimited First Amendment rights and their comments could undermine the trust of the students they teach/
