SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Severe weather moved through KELOLAND to close out the weekend. Meteorologist Adam Rutt takes a look.
While Sunday got off to a soggy start in central and western KELOLAND, areas to the east stayed quiet to start the day. That script was flipped over the course of the afternoon.
A surface area of low pressure tracked through South Dakota and acted as a focal point for some rotating thunderstorms over the early afternoon. The first of which occurred in the Mobridge area during lunchtime. A touchdown was reported near the Indian Creek Recreation Area, with a second touchdown eight miles northeast of Wakpala about a half-hour later. This storm would become a prolific producer of tornadic activity in North Dakota.
