LANSING, MI — People chanted together during a memorial gathering held in Lansing this evening for a man who was gunned down during a debate in Utah last week.
“We are Charlie Kirk,” people in the crowd said.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a rising force on the political right, was killed by a gunman during a debate at Utah Valley University Wednesday, Sept. 10.
He was 31.
People shared messages on signs and speeches Monday, Sept. 15, at the State Capitol, honoring Kirk and urging people to carry on the work he was doing.
Landen Chulski from the Grand Rapids area attended the event with his wife and their 1-year-old son.
Watching Kirk and hearing his advice was helpful, Chulski said. It inspired him to go deeper into his faith.
