The mother of a 12-year-old boy who was found dead in a New Orleans East lagoon late last month will remain jailed without bond after a Monday hearing, according to court records.
Hilda Vasquez, 34, appeared in Orleans Parish Magistrate Court on a count of second-degree cruelty to juveniles and negligent homicide following the death of her son, Bryan Vasquez, whose body was found among alligators on Aug. 26 after a 12-day, multi-agency search.
Vasquez, who was being held at the Plaquemines Parish jail as of Monday evening, was denied bond after a prosecutor shared new details from three sustained Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services investigations, according to criminal justice sources.
