STOUGHTON, Wis. (WMTV) - A local mom is warning other caregivers after a product she used on her daughter became part of a nationwide recall.

Erin Vogel lives in Stoughton with her daughter, Holly. Holly is on the autism spectrum and is mostly nonverbal, which means Erin has to make every decision for her — from meals to medical care. However, Erin said one choice she trusted to be safe put her daughter’s health at risk.

“She had a little irritation in her diaper area where we started applying a product called PeriGuard by DermaRite,” Erin said. “And we would apply that to the area, and it seemed like it was getting worse.”

Hoping the cream would heal the rash, Erin said she kept applying.

“The rash continued to spread,” she said. “It became more blister-looking.”
