GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A tragic trend of violence and threats has emerged in American politics.
The environment has extended from conservative activist Charlie Kirk being shot and killed on the campus of a Utah university, to at least two Michigan Democratic officials saying their homes had been targeted last week by bomb threats.
"Yesterday, I received a detailed and specific message threatening me at my home with a bomb," read a statement posted to the X account of State Senator Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), who is also running for Congress. "Local and state police arrived swiftly, along with a bomb-sniffing dog, to ensure there was no immediate danger. I am thankful for our law enforcement."
