PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Is the state agency that’s tasked with keeping Arizona kids safe failing?
The question comes following the murders of three children known to the system, including Emily Pike , 14, Zariah Dodd , 16, and Rebekah Baptiste , 10. Each case is different; Emily and Zariah were living in group homes, while Rebekah’s father regained custody after several investigations by the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).
Arizona’s Family Investigates took a closer look at Rebekah’s death, which is the most recent case. There appeared to be several opportunities where the state could have intervened, but didn’t.
