Bo Bichette was not with the Blue Jays as they opened their final road trip of the season on Monday night in Tampa.

The injured shortstop was in Texas, seeking a second opinion on his injured left knee from Dr. Dan Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys orthopedic surgeon.

Bichette was hurt in a collision at home plate with Yankees catcher Austin Wells in New York on Sept. 6 . He limped off the field, but played the rest of the game after a 106-minute rain delay. He hasn’t played since.

Jays manager John Schneider told reporters in Tampa on Monday that the injury is to the posterior cruciate ligament in Bichette’s left knee, but the Jays have yet to reveal the severity of the sprain. Baseball
