PHILLIPSTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - New details out of Worcester County where six people have been hospitalized, one of them in critical condition, after a multi-car crash in Phillipston Monday.

Phillipston fire, along with mutual aid from several surrounding areas, arrived on the scene of an eight-vehicle crash on westbound Route 2 around 10:00 Monday morning.

One person was saved from a burning car by a bystander and the motor of a logging truck was also actively burning. The fire was quickly knocked down and first responders determined nobody was still trapped in any cars.

One person was taken to the hospital and airlifted to UMass with serious injuries. Five more are being treated at local hospitals.
