A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized after being struck by a Metra train in south suburban New Lenox, authorities said.
According to a Metra spokesperson, the boy was struck by an inbound Rock Island train at approximately 5:30 p.m., west of the New Lenox Metra station. Paramedics transported the boy to an area hospital, where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, inbound and outbound trains on the Rock Island line were halted for approximately an hour and a half.
Trains later resumed in both directions.
Authorities were investigating the circumstances of the incident.
