GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) - A local Republican group held a community vigil to honor Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10 at Utah Valley University.

The vigil took place at Jeff Lynch Appliances and was organized by Young Greenville, drawing hundreds of attendees who came to remember Kirk and stand against political violence.

"I think it sends a message that we're standing up, we're not gonna allow fear to take over," said David Meissner, a Greenville resident.

"I believe that violence over speech is never a good thing. Everyone should have a fair opinion," added Jacob Greenwood, another attendee.

Lauren Tedeschi, also from Greenville, expressed, "I think it's just paying respects. People showing support of something that shouldn't have happened the way it happened."
