HORSEHEADS, NY (WENY) -- A charity golf tournament was held Monday in memory of a member of the Hilfiger family.
William "Billy" Hilfiger, brother of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, passed away in 2001 after a battle with brain cancer. The Mark Twain Golf Course was filled with golfers Monday afternoon, teeing off to raise money for the Falck Cancer Center in Elmira.
"Billy, his smile, lit up every room... His smile was always so upbeat; he was happy and generous and loved everybody," described his brother, Andy Hilfiger.
Born and raised in Elmira, Billy's musical talents took him to New York City, where he was an accomplished musician and also had his own landscaping business. A brain tumor diagnosis in 1997 changed everything. He passed away in Elmira on September 15, 2001, just day
