BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A new sports clinic in Birmingham aims to expand the skate park for those of all abilities.

It's called the adapted skateboard clinic. It's a chance for children and adults with disabilities to skateboard at City Walk. The skaters use special equipment and work side by side with professional athletes and therapists.

"Having a child with a disability, you're not sure what you'll be able to participate in," said Henry Mims, a parent. "So events like this lets us feel like the world sees us, and that there are opportunities for our children. It just gives them something to do, and they love it."

The clinic runs through Wednesday.
