TESCOTT, Kan. (KSNW) - Damage assessments are still underway in central Kansas, a week after heavy rain caused widespread flooding.

Ottawa County still has roads closed because water is covering them. The emergency manager says up to 15 homes in Tescott and Ada are significantly damaged, as well as the post office. It's closed until further notice.

"They're going to have to completely tear the flooring out of the post office and replace it," Marie Ballou, the Ottawa County Emergency Management coordinator, said.

The county's "road and bridge department" is analyzing this log jam in the Saline River, just outside Tescott city limits, because it does not appear to be as large as the one the Smoky Hill River in Salina in Ottawa County is hoping to solve with their own resources, instead of
