Good afternoon. A 25-year-old man has died and seven people – including five police officers – are being treated in hospital after a gas leak at a restaurant in Sydney’s north-west.

Emergency services responded to reports of a gas leak at the Indian restaurant Haveli in Riverstone, just after 9am on Tuesday. Police said the man, who they believe worked at the restaurant, was found by the venue’s owner and his son, who called police and attempted to revive the man.

Fire and Rescue NSW said they were yet to determine the cause of the leak, but that carbon monoxide is among the suspected gases. NSW ambulance said the people who had been taken to hospital were all in a stable condition.
