Gov. Matt Meyer signed two bills into state law Sept. 15 that expand First Amendment protections in Delaware.
These bills included further protections for public library material and the adoption of the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act in Delaware.
“Freedom of expression and access to diverse ideas are the bedrock of a strong democracy,” Meyer said in a statement following the signing. “These bills protect Delawareans’ voices — whether it’s standing up to powerful interests or ensuring our libraries remain places where every child can explore, learn, and see themselves reflected in the stories they read.
