A heated debate is brewing over differing views on climate change at Kent's largest local authority, Kent County Council (KCC).

The Reform UK-led KCC is considering retracting the 2019 declaration of a "climate emergency", favouring instead a more "open-minded but sceptical" stance towards global warming.

The full council, which convenes next Thursday (September 18), has put forward a five-point motion that advocates for an inclusive discussion, evaluation of the business case for energy schemes, and strategies to "enhance the county's energy security".
