LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The killing of influential conservative activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk has sparked debate surrounding free speech.
Reactions to Kirk’s assassination on a Utah college campus less than a week ago were immediate, emanating online and on social media with examples of individuals celebrating his death.
Two Louisville lawyers said people may not fully appreciate the recourse posting their opinions online may have.
“Tons of employees think that their speech is protected; 'Well, this is in my private time, this is at a home, this has nothing to do with work,'" said Robert Thompson, attorney. "Doesn’t necessarily mean you have protections."
