MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Two Northeast Ohio law enforcement officers indicted for unlawfully detaining a man they thought was in the country illegally, are scheduled to be arraigned in Medina County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday.

In August, Cleveland Police Detective Donald Kopchak and Portage County Deputy Daniel LaJack were indicted on the following charges:

Two counts of abduction

Ethnic intimidation

Assault

Kopchak was also on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) task force at the time.

The charges stem from an incident that happened around 11:50 p.m. on April 26, 2024 at Buzzard’s Roost Bar in Hinckley Township.
