A Philadelphia man was killed Monday when his vehicle veered off an Interstate 81 exit ramp and crashed at the bottom of a Franklin County embankment, police said.

Jason A. Pugh, 37, was trying to get off I-81 north at the mile marker 5 exit ramp in Antrim Township when he veered onto the highway’s shoulder at about 7:38 p.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Pugh then drove down an embankment and crashed head-on into a tree. After impact, his Kia Sorento spun and rolled onto its driver’s side and came to a rest facing south.

Pugh was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in his car, police said, and no other vehicles were involved.
