The Yankees entered Monday having played consecutive series against the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox.

After playing contenders for the last couple of weeks, going 7-5, the Minnesota Twins presented a much easier matchup on Monday. However, the Yankees lost 7-0, making it much harder to win the American League East.

The Yankees trail by five games with 12 games remaining. The Yankees trailed 2-0 going into the seventh inning, and had hope for a comeback. However, Luke Weaver gave up five earned runs in one-third of an inning, essentially putting the game out of reach.

"That was trash," Weaver said of his outing, per the New York Post's Greg Joyce.
